The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has officially released the Constable (GD) Recruitment Notification 2026 for filling 25,487 vacancies in various Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs), Secretariat Security Force (SSF), and Assam Rifles. The recruitment will be conducted for the following posts:

SSC GD Constable Vacancies 2026

A total of 25,487 vacancies have been notified, including posts for male and female candidates across various forces. The vacancies are distributed state-wise, category-wise, force-wise, and gender-wise. Notably, 10% of vacancies are reserved for Ex-Servicemen (ESM). Any change in vacancy count will be notified on the SSC website Notice_of_CTGD_2026.

Pay Scale

Selected candidates will be placed in:

  • Pay Level–3
  • ₹21,700 to ₹69,100 (as per 7th Pay Commission)
  • Along with allowances admissible to CAPF personnel

SSC GD Constable Eligibility Criteria

Nationality

  • Candidate must be a citizen of India
  • State/UT-wise vacancies require submission of a valid Domicile/PRC certificate

Age Limit (as on 01 January 2026)

  • Minimum Age: 18 years
  • Maximum Age: 23 years
  • Candidates must be born between 02 January 2003 and 01 January 2008

Age Relaxation:

  • SC/ST: 5 years
  • OBC: 3 years
  • Ex-Servicemen: 3 years after deduction of military service
  • Special relaxations for dependents of 1984 riot victims

Educational Qualification

  • Must have passed Matriculation (10th Class) from a recognized board on or before 01 January 2026
  • Degrees obtained through Open and Distance Learning are acceptable if recognized by UGC/DEB

Application Fee

  • ₹100 for General/OBC/EWS candidates
  • Exempted Categories: Women, SC, ST, and Ex-Servicemen
  • Fee payment mode: Online only (UPI, Net Banking, Debit Card)

SSC GD Constable Selection Process

The SSC GD Constable 2026 recruitment process consists of the following stages:

  1. Computer Based Examination (CBE)
  2. Physical Efficiency Test (PET)
  3. Physical Standard Test (PST)
  4. Detailed Medical Examination (DME)
  5. Document Verification

Exam Pattern – Computer Based Examination

  • Total Questions: 80
  • Total Marks: 160
  • Duration: 60 minutes
  • Negative Marking: 0.25 marks per wrong answer

Subjects Included:

  • General Intelligence & Reasoning – 20 questions
  • General Knowledge & Awareness – 20 questions
  • Elementary Mathematics – 20 questions
  • English/Hindi – 20 questions

The exam will be conducted in English, Hindi, and 13 regional languages.

Physical Efficiency Test (PET)

  • Male (Other than Ladakh): 5 km in 24 minutes
  • Female (Other than Ladakh): 1.6 km in 8½ minutes
  • Special relaxations apply for Ladakh region candidates
  • Ex-Servicemen are exempted from PET but must undergo medical examination

Physical Standards (PST)

  • Height (Male): 170 cm | Female: 157 cm
  • Chest (Male): 80 cm (minimum expansion 5 cm)
  • Relaxations available for ST candidates, candidates from J&K, Ladakh, NE states, and certain communities

Medical Examination

Candidates qualifying PET/PST will undergo medical examination as per uniform CAPF medical guidelines issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs.

Final Selection & Force Allocation

Final merit will be prepared based on:

  • Normalized marks in CBE
  • NCC bonus marks (if applicable)
  • Candidate’s preference of forces filled during application
  • Subject to qualifying all physical and medical standards

No waiting or reserve list will be prepared after declaration of the final result.
