The Jammu and Kashmir Public Service Commission (JKPSC) has issued the Provisional Select List for the post of Assistant Professor, Computer Applications in the Higher Education Department. The list has been notified vide Notification No. 02-PSC (DR-S) of 2026 dated 07 January 2026.
The Higher Education Department, vide letter dated 13.04.2022, referred 18 posts of Assistant Professor, Computer Applications, to JKPSC with the following category-wise breakup:
- Open Merit (OM): 08
- RBA: 02
- SC: 02
- ST: 02
- EWS: 01
- ALC: 01
- PSP: 01
- SLC: 01
These posts were advertised by the Commission under Notification No. 06-PSC (DR-P) of 2023 dated 01.03.2023.
Written Test and Interview
The written test for the post was conducted on 29 August 2024. The result of the written examination was declared vide Notification No. PSC/Exam/S/2024/67 dated 05 November 2024, in accordance with the relevant JKPSC Examination and Business Rules.
A total of 54 candidates were shortlisted for the interview. However, 3 candidates remained absent, and the interview (viva-voce) of 51 candidates was conducted from 25th to 27th August 2025 with the assistance of subject experts from outside the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir.

Important Notes for Candidates
- The selection is purely provisional and subject to verification of documents and certificates at any stage, if required.
- The selection is also subject to the outcome of writ petition(s) pending before competent courts.
- Objections, if any, against the provisional selection may be submitted to the Commission within five days from the date of issuance of the notification. No claim will be entertained after the expiry of this period.
- Selection against the SLC category will be notified separately.
- One post under the ST category has remained unfilled as the candidates did not qualify the prescribed benchmark under Rule 50 of the JKPSC (Business & Procedure) Rules, 2021.
