Students who appeared in the JKSET/LASET-2024 examination are facing growing uncertainty and distress due to the continued delay in declaration of results, raising serious questions about administrative efficiency and accountability in Jammu and Kashmir.

The notification for JKSET/LASET–2024 was issued on 5 June 2024, and the examination was eventually conducted on 7 September 2025 by the University of Jammu. However, despite the passage of several months since the conduct of the examination, the results have not been declared till date, leaving thousands of candidates in limbo.

Aggrieved students say the delay has adversely affected their academic plans, eligibility for assistant professor posts, PhD admissions, and other career opportunities. Many candidates have crossed age limits for certain competitive exams and recruitment processes while waiting for the JKSET results, causing irreversible career setbacks.

Students have also expressed frustration over the lack of official communication regarding the reasons for the delay or a tentative timeline for result declaration. “There is complete silence from the authorities. We prepared for years, appeared in the exam, and now our future is uncertain,” said one aspirant.

The delay has once again brought attention to broader issues of administrative inefficiency in recruitment and examination processes in Jammu and Kashmir. Students have pointed out that a similar situation persists with several recruitment processes conducted by the Jammu and Kashmir Services Selection Board (JKSSB), where posts advertised as early as 2020 are yet to see examinations or final selections.

Education activists and student bodies have questioned the accountability of the Government of Jammu and Kashmir, demanding clarity on why academic and recruitment timelines are repeatedly missed. They argue that such delays erode trust in institutions and disproportionately affect youth in a region already facing limited employment opportunities.

Experts note that national-level eligibility tests are generally conducted and results declared within a fixed and predictable timeframe, allowing candidates to plan their careers accordingly. The prolonged delay in JKSET results stands in sharp contrast to these standards.

Students are now urging the administration and the University of Jammu to immediately announce a clear timeline for the declaration of JKSET 2024 results and ensure greater transparency in examination-related processes. They warn that continued inaction may force aspirants to resort to protests and legal remedies in the coming days.

As uncertainty deepens, the delay has once again highlighted the urgent need for systemic reforms, strict timelines, and institutional accountability in handling examinations and recruitment processes in Jammu and Kashmir.
